Chief Minister Fabian Picardo yesterday told UK Prime Minister David Cameron that diplomacy had failed to put an end to Spanish incursions into British Gibraltar territorial waters.

Mr Picardo welcomed Britain’s strong protest to Spain after the Guardia Civil shooting incident in British waters earlier this week.
But he told Mr Cameron that it “could prove insufficient”.

“Diplomatic action to date appears to have had no material effect and I fear that Spain will not be deterred by yet another verbal protest no matter how robust,” Mr Picardo told Mr Cameron in a lengthy letter.

In a statement, No.6 Convent Place said Mr Picardo also told

Mr Cameron that it was important for Spain to “…feel the true weight of British reaction to continuing violations of our sovereignty.”
