It took only 4 years for the percentage of Barcelona’s residents that feel “Only Catalan” to go from 14.9%(2008) to  24.9%(2012). This fact shows Barcelona’s residents drift apart from allegiance to Spain as a result of Spanish Government discrimination inflicted to Catalonia in general and Barcelona city in particular. In what concerns other allegiances, equally Spaniard and Catalan decreased from 42%(2008) to 37%(2012), “more Catalan than Spaniard” went from 25.6%(2008) to 26.3%(2012), “more Spaniard than Catalan” went from 4.3% to 3.3% and “Only Spaniard” decreased from 7.4% to 3.5%.
